About SEF

Simple Education Foundation (SEF) was founded in 2013 with a simple belief – ‘Where we are born should not decide the course of our destiny’. Our core philosophy is that every child should have an equal learning opportunity, regardless of a child’s social or economic background.

Our vision is to empower all our children to build a better tomorrow. Given that over 65% of children in India are still going to government schools, our aim is to reinvent India’s government school system by designing and implementing holistic school transformation programs that strengthen schools from within. We do this by empowering the key enablers of a school ecosystem i.e., Educators, Parents, and Children, with the knowledge, skills, mindsets, and tools required to bring our vision of education alive.

Hence, our mission is to transform teaching and learning practices in 50,000 government schools and communities over the next 10 years. Since 2016, we have reached out to more than 90,000 beneficiaries in India through our various programs. We have worked with students, teachers, and principals across the states of Jammu and Kashmir, Delhi, Uttarakhand, and Haryana. Currently, we are running two programs serving 4 schools across urban and rural India, reaching out to more than 1,800 beneficiaries. In 2020, we continued our work with our students through online and offline modules, and supported our teachers in designing and facilitating these classes. Our curriculum also reached out to more than 2000 other educators who used our learning toolkit to work with their children in urban and rural areas of India and other countries.

SEF’s Education Vision

To live in harmony in this ever-changing world, we believe our children will continuously learn, reflect, and grow into self-aware individuals who act with alignment in head, heart, hand, and soul in service of all beings. Below are the identified key knowledge, skills, and mindsets around the idea of alignment in head, heart, hand, and soul, which guide us in our work and ensure quality education for all children in our schools.

Key Elements at Work

  • Build vision with the stakeholders: investing stakeholders in a vision of excellence for our students
  • Build capacity of the stakeholders: equipping stakeholders with the skill and will to pursue the students’ vision inside public schools
  • Curate and share best practices: identifying, seeding, capturing and sharing best practices that enable the implementation of the student vision across diverse stakeholders in public school systems
