Each institution works within a context shaped by its heritage, vision, aspiration and physical environment. CEP for colleges is both faculty and student driven, with different engagement platforms that are both sustained and deliberative. With diverse disciplinary streams, pedagogic practices and unique challenges, our interventions in the higher education space are a largely facilitative and collaborative effort. Given this reality, our role is to support communities of practice, bring together diverse stakeholders and engage with institutions to increase the space provided to sustainability action, learning and thinking. At Wipro we strongly believe that these very institutions can play the role of nodal centers disseminating critical learnings and knowledge over time. We intend to build on these platforms in the coming years and take forward these discussions to a logical end- the challenge of infusing sustainability ideas, concepts and practices. It is our belief that co-creating and catalysing such platforms will lead to something substantive on an ongoing basis.

How are We Doing This?

Sustainability Internship Support Program

Wipro earthian offers a diverse and unique range of sustainability related internship opportunities that can be undertaken for a period of two months. These internships are offered in partnership with our highly reputed partner organizations who are domain specialists in sustainability and related areas

Sustainability Education Symposiums

As a part of our long term vision to further sustainability education in India, WIPRO – earthian has embarked on a broad initiative to curate national level forums of leading colleges from across the country on the topic of ‘Symposium on Advancing Sustainability Research and Education’.

Development of Academic Literature

It has emerged from our interactions with the higher education space that there is a lot of interest shown in the development and production of variety of knowledge assets relevant to sustainability in higher education. It would add great value, to create relevant educational material that can be embedded into the existing curriculums and be used as learning tools.

Sustainability Research and Fellowships

Over the years IIMB and Wipro have embarked on a broad based collaboration on sustainability education that aims to build valuable intellectual assets through joint programs including research, projects, internships, curricular work, conferences etc. A few notable collaborations are of this nature are:

a) Faculty-led research on Business and Human Rights- with the objective of creating a comprehensive framework that aids assessing for human rights impact assessment for businesses through select sectors and firms, which could be made available as online modules with customizable content that can be tailored on sector/geography. This year a new line of research through a Human Right Impact Assessment (HRIA) seeks to answer, “How does the organization or policy or project affect human rights?” with focus on HRIA not at a firm level but the level of the sector. What does corporate responsibility to respect human rights mean in practice? What is the step taken towards this direction?

b) Wipro Sustainability Student Fellowship- to support a fellowship to one doctoral student at IIM-B who wishes to research in the field of sustainability. Under this, we also support a Fellowship Award for one N.S. Ramaswamy (NSR) pre-doctoral fellow student studying at IIM-B. Through this, we hope to provide opportunities for students at B-schools to seriously engage with the domain of sustainability and simultaneously build institutional capability.
