Afaq Ullah is a social entrepreneur from Faizabad, Uttar Pradesh. After completing is post-graduation in human rights from Jamia Millia Islamia he went back to his home town and started Awadh Peoples Forum, a non-government organization focused on promoting communal harmony in the region. He has spent the last seven years in the city trying to nurture peace and harmony in the community through varied interventions with children, adolescents and young people. Afaq, with his team of volunteers, has set up five learning centres in different pockets of Faizabad to build social capacities of youth towards civic participation. All programmes at these centres are woven around education and life skills with an aim to build a positive narrative towards social transformation.
Over the years Afaq has been able establish credible work relationship with the district administration, civil society organization and educational institutions. During his gradation and post-graduation in Delhi, Afaq interned and actively volunteered with different civil society organizations including the National Foundation for India, Pravah, Commutiny the youth collective and SajhaManch. He has also worked full time with the Hazards Centre in Delhi for three years.
